It seems that the Premier League winning Leicester City squad will be raided upon by the major European clubs this summer, with the likes of Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante all linked with big transfers.
Now, Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport (via Daily Express) has linked another star of Claudio Ranieri’s team with a move away from the club. According to the report, Premier League duo Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in signing midfielder Danny Drinkwater.
The 26-year-old has played a significant role in the Foxes’ title run this year. He was a key presence in the Foxes’ midfield this season and contributed with one goal and seven assists in 34 league appearances for the title winners.
His performances for the Foxes also earned him a call-up for Roy Hodgson’s squad earlier this year and it is very likely that he will travel to Euro 2016 with the Three Lions in the summer.
Drinkwater’s current deal with the Foxes runs until 2018 and the club will be eager to tie him down to a new contract. The industrious midfielder graduated from Manchester United’s academy, but left the club to join Leicester City in 2012 in search of first-team opportunities.
