Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane. The 23-year-old centre-back is said to be looking for a move away from the La Liga giants as he has not regularly featured for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
The Red Devils have centre-back signing high on their agenda this upcoming summer transfer window and after pursuing Sergio Ramos, they seemed to have shifted their attention towards his team-mate.
According to French publication Le 10 Sport, via talkSPORT, United are aware of Varane’s current situation at his club and are planning to make a move for him. The report claims that United and Bayern Munich are the current frontrunners to sign the French defender.
Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be interested in the player.
Jose Mourinho, who has been linked with jobs at United and PSG, has worked with Varane during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu and is understood to be a big fan of the player. The Portuguese manager could end up playing a major role in deciding Varane’s next destination.
