Ligue 1 club sign Yaya Toure…or not?

Yaya Toure is primed to leave Manchester City during the next summer transfer window, as the Ivorian midfielder has many admirers in the world of football.

The 32-year-old has been linked with the likes of Juventus, Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, West Ham, and Real Madrid, as he doesn’t plan on playing for incoming manager Pep Guardiola again.

Toure has just one year remaining on his current City contract, and on Thursday there seemed to be a breakthrough in his transfer story, as Ligue 1 club Caen announced the signing of Yaya Toure.

The former club of Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante in an offial statement said: “We have a new signing at our training centre. We wish him the same successful future as his namesake.”

Meaning, the one and only Yaya Toure is still a City player, as it was his teenage namesake who has joined Caen’s development squad.

City’s Toure has enjoyed a fairly disappointing season, providing eight goals and seven assists in 46 appearances in all competions for Man City, who have still not secured their ticket to next season’s Champions League.

The Citizens travel to Liberty Stadium on Sunday for an encounter with Swansea. If Manchester United beat Bournemouth and City lose, the Red Devils will jump to fourth place.
