Carlo Ancelotti has cleared a path for Mario Gotze to move to former club Chelsea, with the soon-to-be Bayern Munich boss willing to let the German midfielder join the Blues in the summer, according to The Sun.
The report states that Gotze has been told that he has no future at the Bundesliga champions and that Chelsea can have him for £35 million. The Blues have already held talks with the 23-year-old’s representatives and are willing to meet the demands of Bayern.
However, Chelsea are not the only ones chasing the 2014 World Cup winner. According to German news outlet Bild (via Daily Telegraph), Liverpool have made contact with Bayern Munich regarding a summer move for Gotze, though the Germany international would prefer a return to Borussia Dortmund.
But Dortmund fans have never forgiven Gotze for the way he left the club in 2013 and relations between Dortmund and Bayern are not great, as the Munich club just completed the signing of Dortmund’s captain Matts Hummels.
Arsenal and especially Juventus have also been linked with a move for the 23-year-old playmaker.
