Manchester United table Premier League record bid for Paul Pogba

Jose Mourinho is keen to overhaul Manchester United’s squad during this summer transfer window, in order to steer the Red Devils back to the top of English and European football.

The Portuguese manager is reportedly ready to go all out to get the job done, as a report by The Sun claims that United have tabled a Premier League record bid for Juventus star Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils’ offer is worth an initial £48 million plus a further £12 million in add-on payments based on the success of the club and the player’s appearances.

That £60 million offer would eclipse the previous Premier League record fee of £59.7 million United paid for Angel Di Maria to Real Madrid in the summer of 2014, hopefully with better results as the Argentine left for PSG after just one season in the Premier League.

Pogba arrived at Juventus in 2012 from Old Trafford after a public falling out with Sir Alex Ferguson. The France international made just three appearances in the English top flight before heading to Italy on a free transfer, but the Red Devils have remained interested in their former academy product.

The 23-year-old has won four consecutive Serie A titles and two Italian Cups with the Old Lady, while also reaching the Champions League final last season. He provided 10 goals and 16 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions this season, the first with the number 10 on his shirt.
