Chelsea have been trying to get hands on Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly for quite some time now.
However, the Naples club have managed to dispel advances towards their talented defender for now. Some reports have even suggested that they have already turned down a huge bid from the Blues for the 25-year-old.
Now, Bruno Satin, the agent of the Senegal international, has confirmed beyond doubt that Chelsea and Everton are interested in signing his client this summer.
Satin’s revealed that he recently held talks with Napoli over a new contract, but his client is not eager to stay at the Serie A club beyond this summer.
It appears that following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus, Napoli are bound to lose one more key player this summer. However, Satin made it very clear that Koulibaly won’t be moving to Serie A rivals Juventus.
“I was in Dimaro on Saturday and we discussed a contract renewal. However, we are not at the point of reaching an agreement,” Satin told Radio CRC (via Daily Mail). “The desire of the player is to leave the club, not renew.
“Last year they wanted to sell him, stating he was not focused enough, but then last season he has shown all his quality. To the fans, I say stay calm because he won’t be joining Juventus.
“Chelsea and Everton are still interested as they are both searching for a central defender of his quality.”
Everton are set to lose their highly-rated centre-back John Stones this summer. The Merseysiders have identified
Koulibaly as a like-for-like replacement for Stones and are ready to make him the most expensive player in the club’s history.
The 25-year-old, who still has three years left on his current deal, is reportedly valued at £37.7million by Napoli.
