Arsenal to make new bid for striker, Gunners identify surprising defensive target

Arsenal are set to make an improved bid for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette next week. Sky Sports claims that the Gunners, who have already had their initial bid of £30 million rejected for the striker, still remain interested in him.

Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas has on multiple occasions insisted that the 25-year-old is not for sale, but it
is believed that a bid in the region of 40 million could get the Gunners their man.

The France international, who scored 21 league goals for his club last season, signed a four-year contract extension with the Ligue 1 club only last August.

Meanwhile, the rumours linking West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans to Arsenal are only getting stronger.

The Belfast Telegraph claims that the Northern Ireland defender currently leads the list of club’s transfer target, and the Gunners are planning to launch a £15 million bid for him.

The North London club are in the transfer market for a central defender following a long-term injury to Per Mertesacker and have also been linked with Shkodran Mustafi and Kalidou Koulibaly.
