Reading extend Leigertwood loan deal

Reading FC have announced that they have extended their loan deal for Mikele Leigertwood, with the Queens Park Rangers midfielder set to stay until the end of the season.

Leigertwood joined at the end of November, and has performed well in the centre of midfield alongside Jem Karacan, currently unbeaten as a partnership in their seven games together.

Royals manager Brian McDermott expressed his pleasure at the new deal: “I’m delighted, Mikele has been a really good addition to our squad. He is a top guy, a top person and represents everything that is good about our football club.”

The player was also delighted to renew his loan deal: “I’ve really enjoyed my time here and it only felt right to stay for longer. It felt good for both parties, it was an easy choice for me. I’m playing, I think I’m doing OK, the management are happy with me and there was no decision to make really!

“The supporters have been great with me as well, so long may that continue. I’m pleased to be working with the manager, we’ve got a good mix of youth and experience in the squad. He has always said we want to get into the top six, we’re only six points off second and it’s there for us.”
