Berbatov set for Man Utd contract extension

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is set to be rewarded for a successful season with the club by getting a contract extension, according to a report in The Guardian.

Berbatov, 30, has scored 19 goals in 26 league appearances this year, after scoring 12 in 33 last season, and that kind of form has convinced manager Sir Alex Ferguson to take up a 12 month extension clause on his current Old Trafford contract, keeping the Bulgarian at the club until Summer 2013.

Berbatov would follow in the footsteps of Wayne Rooney, Patrice Evra, and Ryan Giggs in signing recent contract extensions at United.
