Man City duo join Lineker to back “Do Me a Favour” campaign

England duo Adam Johnson and James Milner have joined forces with Gary Lineker and the Cancer Research UK team to raise awareness of cancer, especially in those over-50.

In a Cancer Research UK video, the Man City midfielders promote a brand new web application that allows you to send a personalised cancer awareness message from England legend Lineker, straight to your loved ones. This is a really important campaign as when cancer’s found at an early stage, treatment is often easier and more likely to be successful – but not many people know this.

Lineker, along with Model wife Danielle, created the video to encourage their parents, friends and loved ones to ‘Do Me a Favour’ and see a doctor if they have any health issues. During 2011, more celebrities are set to join the campaign.

On the health issues faced by the now 50 year old Lineker, he said: “I’m not overjoyed about turning 50 but despite the wrinkles and grey hair, I am lucky that I am healthy and still pretty much my playing weight.

This campaign is about giving the people you care about a nudge and reminding them that if they’re worried about their health in any way then they should go to the doctor, otherwise it will just nag away.

It might also be getting worse in that period of time so please do listen to Cancer Research UK and go and get it checked out.”
