Cleverley to miss Man Utd clash with Sunderland

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has been ruled out of action for the next two games after tweaking his ankle, Manutd.com reports.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be without Cleverley for the midweek Champions League game against Otelul Galati and the weekend fixture against Sunderland at Old Trafford. Cleverley had just made his return from an injury suffered against Bolton in the early weeks of the season, but has seen his recovery curtailed.

Ferguson said: ‘Cleverley won’t play tomorrow. It’s not serious, but it’s one of those injuries where he got a little tweak on it on Saturday. We’ll look at the long view and make sure he’s available for a long period rather than play him again and risk it coming back to haunt us’.

Rafael is back for the Premier League champions, but young England internationals Chris Smalling and Ashley Young are both still injured. Smalling has been ruled out for a month with a fracture in his foot and Young is still suffering from a toe problem.
