QPR vs West Brom – Match preview and prediction

Two mid-table sides face each other at Loftus Road as QPR take on West Brom. Both sides are looking for a win to break into the top half.

QPR are still without goalkeepers Paddy Kenny and Brian Murphy, so Radnek Cerny is expected to deputise once again. Captain Joey Barton returns from suspension and Shaun Wright-Phillips is a doubt with a foot problem. Last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Norwich saw two lapses in defensive concentration cost Neil Warnock’s side the three points. Warnock will be looking for more focus against the Baggies today.

West Brom were beaten 3-1 by Tottenham at the Hawthorns last weekend and boss Roy Hodgson will be looking for three points when his side travel to West London. Zoltan Gera ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Spurs and is out for the season, so Simon Cox could start for West Brom. Ireland international Shane Long is hoping to shake off a groin injury to start, but Peter Odemwingie will deputise if Long is not fit.

Both sides seem evenly matched, but Albion’s record away from home in London is unfavourable. They have won just three of their 30 Premier League trips to the capital and QPR should inflict more misery today with a battling win over the Baggies.
