Torres breaks Chelsea drought with FA Cup double

Fernando Torres ended a run of more than 25 hours without a goal by scoring twice as Chelsea defeated Leicester City 5-2 to reach the FA Cup semi-finals, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

Torres, a £50m purchase from Liverpool in January 2011, had gone since October 19 2011 without finding the back of the net before he swept the ball past Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in the 67th minute, adding a second 18 minutes later.

Gary Cahill opened the scoring for Chelsea in the 12th minute, heading home a Juan Mata corner. Salomon Kalou doubled Chelsea’s lead five minutes later while Torres’ first goal put Chelsea 3-0 up. Jermaine Beckford reduced the deficit in the 77th minute before Torres added a second but within three minutes Leicester midfielder Ben Marshall spectacularly put his name on the score sheet. Raul Meireles rounded off the scoring in the 90th minute following a Torres pass.
