Everton defender Sylvain Distin has added extra spice to Sunday’s Merseyside derby after claiming that he “felt sad” for Liverpool supporters, says ESPN.co.uk.
And Distin has irked Reds supporters who goaded him on Twitter about his defensive lapse during Liverpool’s FA Cup semi-final win over David Moyes’ team last year.
Distin tweeted: “My red followers been very quiet this season. I wonder why. Now they beg me for a mistake to make them feel better. I’m feeling sad for them.”
However a win for Liverpool at Anfield would see them move to within two points of sixth-placed Everton – who haven’t won on their bitter rivals’ turf since the turn of the century.
