Arsenal and Real Madrid are reportedly ready to join Manchester City in the race for wantaway Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling.
Arsenal News and Goals
According to the Daily Express, the Merseyside club have decided that they will be willing to sell to any interested club, provided they match their valuation of £50m for the England international.
And while the Reds have already rejected a £30m bid for the 20-year-old, they do expect that the Gunners and the Spanish giants will cement their interest by making an official offer.
Nevertheless, the Daily Express suggest that the Eastlands club remain the favourites for his signature after their owner confirmed that they intend to spend in their quest to return to the summit of the Premier League.
Sterling would fulfil a lot of the criteria for the kind of player that Manuel Pellegrini will be looking for. City last season boasted one of the oldest squads in the top flight, and appeared to lack the energy to try and keep up with Chelsea. He would also add to the number of home-grown names in their squad.
Meanwhile, both Arsenal and Real Madrid already have a cluster of wingers and so it is somewhat difficult to imagine what kind of role he would play in either’s side. While he clearly has potential, his end product is still lacking, and so he would therefore represent a huge risk considering the potential outlay, especially given the depth that both sides already have in his position.
