Arsenal’s BEST XI last season: including just ONE English player

RAM- Alexis Sanchez 7.85

Unsurprisingly, the Chilean has been deemed as Arsenal’s best player this year. He has taken no time whatsoever to adapt to the English game, having scored 16 times in the Premier League alone. He has also contributed eight assists, making him one of the top flight’s most valuable players. His work rate has also seen many plaudits head his way, as even when they had retaken the lead against a deflated Reading in the FA Cup semi-final, he was closing the ball down as if winning it back was vital if they were to advance.

LAM- Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 7.20

Despite the exciting performances from Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, it is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain that is reportedly the best player that has played on the left of the three sat just behind the striker. Although the England international has struggled with injuries for much of the campaign, there is little question over his quality. While he only scored one goal in the league, he enjoyed a lot of success in the Champions League, bagging two goals and two assists.

ST- Olivier Giroud 7.27

The Frenchman missed a couple of months at the start of the season through injury, but proved upon his return that his absence had had little impact on his ability to find the back of the net. He scored 14 times in the league, but went through a lengthy drought late on in the campaign. With Theo Walcott’s hat-trick on the final day of the Premier League season, as well as the possibility of more depth being added this summer, the 28-year-old has a difficult task ahead if he wishes to hold onto his place.
