The Belgian chalked up two end of season awards in the shape of the PFA Player of the Year as well as the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year, having excelled himself from the previous campaign.
But far from taking all the plaudits by himself, he has paid tribute to last summer’s arrivals – namely Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic has helping him raise his level.
“When you play with big players you feel better,” he told the club website.
“I also think Nemanja is very important for the team. I know when I play with him I can focus more on the attacking part of my game because he is always behind me. If I can’t get back at a certain time, he is there to cover.
“With Diego, you know you don’t always need to get so far forward because he is always there; you just have to try to create something for him.
“Cesc is the same, you just have to connect with him when he has the ball, so it’s always good to play with big players. We have a lot of big players in our team.”
Hazard picked up his first league title in England, and followed it up by explaining how much tougher it was to win than the one he notched up in France with Lille.
“In every game you have to fight until the end so it’s not the same feeling,” Hazard added.
“I respect every team but this season we were the best. When you go on holiday and you can say you are the champions it’s an enjoyable feeling.”
Hazard will be a part of the Belgium squad to take on Wales this weekend as they look to book a place in next summer’s European Championships.
