Liverpool striker Fabio Borini may finally be heading for the Anfield exit this summer, after reports linked him with an £8m move to West Ham.
According to The Sun, the 24-year-old will be heading to the Boleyn Ground for talks and a possible medical.
The Italian has endured a torrid time on Merseyside, and has – along with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert – been made one of the scapegoats for the side’s troubles this season. He scored just once in the Premier League last season, which actually doubled his top flight total for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Reds are keen to get him off their books, along with Balotelli and Lambert, as it will free up funds for the side to go after Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, The Sun suggest.
Nevertheless, the Hammers are keen on the forward. While his time at Liverpool has been uninspiring, they may have gained confidence from his loan spell at Sunderland during the 2013/14 campaign, where he scored seven times, and helped the Black Cats pull off a miraculous recovery, having looked certainties for the drop.
