Liverpool are said to be closing in on yet another signing after making an improved £12.5m bid for Southampton full-back Nathaniel Clyne, according to the Metro.
The Reds have made the improved offer after seeing their initial approaches turned down, and are now though to be on the verge of landing the England international.
The offer is said to be be an initial payment of £10.5m – which will rise to £12.5m with bonuses and manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that that will be enough to convince Ronald Koeman to sell up.
With just 12 months remaining on his current deal, and with no intention to pen an extension, the Saints may want to consider cashing in on him now rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer.
However, they are believed to be holding out for a fee closer to the £15m mark, knowing that Liverpool are in desperate need of extra cover at right-back following Glen Johnson’s departure.
