Diego Costa v Ashley Williams
Given the amazing start that Diego Costa enjoyed at Chelsea – with seven goals coming in his first four games – Blues fans will be desperate to see a repeat performance from the Spain international as Jose Mourinho’s men attempt to get their title defence off to a flyer. As well as his ability with the ball at his feet, part of the reason he appeared to have so much success last year was his physicality. In Ashley Williams he is coming up against one of the most combative defenders in the top flight, who will do his best to frustrate the former Atletico Madrid man in the knowledge that his temper has been known to get the better of him in the past. Swansea’s full-backs will also have to be aware of the threat coming from just behind the striker in the shape of Eden Hazard.
