The 26-year-old has just a year remaining on his current deal worth £90,000-per-week, and will now finally sit down with club representatives to discuss extending his stay at the Emirates.
But the England international has more concerns not only over the amount of game time he will receive, but where he will play when he does get on the pitch. It is thought he is keen to try and strike a balance between featuring on the wing and up front, with recent displays against West Brom and Aston Villa only serving to strengthen his argument.
It is believed to be one of the factors that stalled his latest set of negotiations, though he is keen to make it clear that he is not looking to start through the middle in every game, as he understands that he is an asset on the wing.
But with Olivier Giroud once again being the club’s only main striker this term, he is eager to make more of a contribution up front.
