Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze, according to the Metro.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United have been on alert this week after the player’s agent criticised the Bundesliga champions for the way that have used the 23-year-old since his move from Borussia Dortmund two years ago.
However, the Metro suggest that Jose Mourinho has been an admirer of the player for a long time, having previously tried to sign him when he was the manager at Real Madrid. And the Metro report that the Premier League champions will have no problems opening the chequebook for the player this summer.
Although he has gone under the radar at the Allianz Arena, and his performances have come under question, there is little question that he remains one of the most exciting talents in Europe.
And having won almost everything on offer with the Bavarian side, as well as last year’s World Cup with Germany – where he scored the winning goal in the final – he may be seeking a new challenge, that could see him head to the England.
