Arsenal are considering whether to make a stunning transfer offer for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to the Metro.
The Metro suggest that Wenger is a big fan of the Uruguayan, and is hoping to exploit the strained relationship between the 28-year-old and current PSG boss Laurent Blanc.
Despite tasting plenty of success on the pitch – with the Ligue 1 side clinching a domestic treble – it would be little surprise if the former Napoli man was unhappy at Parc des Princes.
The presence of the enigmatic Zlatan Ibrahimovic has seen Cavani often pushed out wider to accommodate both lethal marksmen. Nevertheless, Cavani still managed 18 strikes in the top flight last year, which was just one less than the 33-year-old.
Given the Swede’s age, you would be forgiven for thinking that Blanc would start to consider the future, and start to play the younger of the pair in the centre, while reducing Ibrahimovic’s game time.
However, with little indication that that is about to happen, Cavani may be tempted by an offer from an Arsenal side that seem to be crying out for a ruthless finisher to lead the line.
