Chelsea have submitted a formal offer for Roma’s Antonio Rudiger, according to Italian publication Il Tempo.
The report states that the Blues have submitted a bid in the region of £23 million for the German international. Rudiger is currently on a loan spell at the Serie A club from Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart, but Roma are expected to make his deal permanent in the summer before selling him to Chelsea.
The 23-year-old recently addressed Chelsea rumours in an interview and also added that he doesn’t know where he will be playing next season.
“My first year in Serie A was good. Unfortunately, we were unable to reach the second place but overall the season has been positive,” he told German newspaper Wolfsburger Allgemeine.
“My future? I am currently a Roma player, I’m happy at this club but you never know what can happen in football. Maybe the same club [Roma] can think of something else or something can happen after Euro 2016.
“Chelsea? This is talk I’ve felt for three years. I repeat, in Rome I am happy.
The Blues have also been linked with a move for River Plate defender Emanuel Mammana. According to Goal, the Blues have been told by the Argentina club that they can sign the 20-year-old for £8 million.
Goal quotes a River Plate source as saying: “If Chelsea put up £8m, they will get Mammana.”
The report adds that centre-back’s representative Hernan Reguera was recently in London for the initial talks with the West London club. Chelsea will face competition from Serie A clubs Inter and Fiorentina for the player.
