Manchester United are being heavily linked with a big money, 100m Euro offer for Paris St. Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, according to various sources.
United now have Jose Mourinho at the helm, and the Portuguese is said to be keen to add first Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the the Italian defensive midfielder, from PSG. The latter is reported by Italian sports daily Courier dello Sport, to be valued at £79m, a figure United are thought to be willing to pay.
Verratti, 23, will not be part of Italy’s Euro 2016 campaign, due to a hernia problem, and has struggled for much of the season – as such, he has only 11 starts in Ligue 1 as PSG strolled to victory.
United have recently boosted their midfield options by renewing the contract of Michael Carrick, until June 2017.
Despite being relatively young, Verratti has won a host of trophies since moving from Pescara for £8m four seasons ago, including, four Ligue 1 championships, two French Cups, three French League Cups, and three Super Cups, to add to his Serie B winners medal.
