Liverpool and Napoli share a reported interest in Udinese’s Polish international Piotr Zielinski.
Whilst Napoli have had an £11.7 million offer accepted for the player, Liverpool’s bid of the same valuation has been rejected, as reported by the BBC.
Nevertheless the Anfield club remain optimistic of managing to agree a deal to sign Zielinski, who made a substitute appearance in Poland’s 1-0 Euro 2016 group stage win over Ukraine, since Liverpool is understood to be the 22-year-old’s destination.
Should Zielinski join Liverpool, he would become their fifth major signing of the summer after Jurgen Klopp has already added the quartet of Sadio Mane, Loris Karius, Marko Grujic and Joel Matip to his squad.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been left frustrated as their chance to shine for Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud in this window appear to be fading too, according to a report by Liverpool Echo.
The Reds would be willing to pay more than £25 million to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield this summer. However, Gladbach is reluctant to sell Dahoud after already having offloaded key players Granit Xhaka and Havard Nordveit.
