Man City defenders revel in derby win

Manchester City defenders Vincent Kompany and Micah Richards have both spoken of their delight at the side’s 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United on Sunday, MCFC.co.uk reports.

Two goals apiece from Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko as well as efforts from Sergio Aguero and David Silva gave City a stunning victory and sent them five points clear at the top of the table.

“It was a beautiful day,” said City captain Kompany. “We made history but it is only three points and now Wolves is the important game.

“When we were under pressure in the opening period we did all the right things as a team. Our fans deserve this chance to celebrate.”

Richards, who was named man of the match by Sky Sports, added: “I have never been happier on a football pitch at the end of a game.

“It is what dreams are made of and I am sure it has made a few of our fans’ dreams come true. We hope they are all happy.”
