2) Eden Hazard (Chelsea) €135.4m-€148.9m
The Belgian has brought a lot of colour and excitement to a very regimented Chelsea side this year. He was rewarded for his efforts by being awarded the PFA Player of the Year to go along with his Premier League winner’s medal. However, his critics would say that 14 goals and nine assists is not anywhere near enough to justify the kind of value he apparently commands.
1) Lionel Messi (Barcelona) €255.3m-€280.8m
Was there any doubt?
The Barcelona maestro has been so irresistible to watch this year that some are suggesting that this has been his best season. He dictated most of his side’s games this year, including the Champions League final win over Juventus, and created one of the iconic moments of the campaign when his trickery left Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng desperately sprawling on the Nou Camp turf during the semi-final of the same competition. Unsurprisingly, his value is on the verge of reaching the €300m mark.
