Manchester United are looking to spend big during the winter transfer window. But getting Cristiano Ronaldo and/or Gareth Bale seems more and more unlikely, according to The
Ronaldo and Bale looked to be available with Rafa Benitez managing Real Madrid. Rumours were aplenty, with The Red Devils as a possible destination for both superstars.
The Spanish coach, however, is gone and replaced by Real legend Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman has a different view on his teams and its players.
Zidane said: “It’s not just that (Ronaldo) isn’t for sale, instead he’s the heart and soul of this team. I laugh because as long as I’m here, he isn’t going anywhere”.
‘Zizou’ also dealt a blow to United’s hopes of getting Bale. He said: “Departures? I don’t want anyone to leave and I hope nobody does. I’m not planning for any arrivals either. I have a good-sized squad and I’ll make do with the team I have.”
United, therefore, have to keep looking for (offensive) reinforcements. They have been keen on Lazio’s Felipe Anderson, Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, Southampton’s Saido Mane and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
